Why We Need The Trades

A good education doesn’t always require a college degree, but it does require people who want to learn a skill that will support them for the rest of their lives.

Nowadays, a skilled workman is worth his weight in gold and a master plumber can make anywhere from $60,000-$100,000 a year because there are so few of them in the workplace right now. The average age of a master plumber (becoming a master plumber requires education and 7-10 years training with a master plumber) is 58 years old, which means in a very short period of time the labor pool of plumbers will be non-existent.

A skilled trade offers the same benefits as a white-collar profession without the high cost of a college degree. The opportunities are endless and none of them come with debilitating student loan debt.

The Benefits Of Learning A Trade:

  1. You gain experience immediately. In the skilled trade careers, apprentices work on projects immediately with skilled professionals.

  2. It’s affordable. Not only are they learning on the job and making a paycheck, but they can also take classes over time as they are able.

  3. Skilled trade experts make a good living.

  4. There is always a need for master tradespeople. These jobs will never be given to artificial intelligence. Computers can’t fix your toilet, they can’t replace you’re AC unit and they can’t install the new wiring in your house.

But, thankfully, there are people out there who have recognized the need. Businesses like us, who reimburse our employees for every class they pass on their way to their master plumber’s license. We train our young helpers and encourage them to pursue the additional education required to become a licensed plumber.

IF you know someone who doesn’t want to sit at a desk, who doesn’t like to be bored, and who is mechanically inclined then talk to them about being a plumber, an HVAC technician, or an electrician. They can start work immediately, learn as they go, and take classes along the way that will prepare them for licensing.
